General Federation of Trade Unions of Palestine denounces policy of arresting Gaza fishermen

General Federation of Trade Unions of Palestine denounced on Thursday the continued Israeli policy of arresting fishermen, confiscating their property and investigating them, in order to fight the fishing in Gaza.

The union said that the Israeli occupation deliberately arrested the fishermen constantly and stealing their property and even confiscate the largest possible number of tools that are used in fishing; in order to create unemployment in this sector and reduce the number of fishermen. "
 

It also explained that the policy of arrests and shooting is a systematic and continuous policy, "calling the international institutions to assume their responsibilities towards the fishermen.

Accordingly, the union denounced the arrest of four Palestinian fishermen by the Israeli occupation forces on Wednesday, who were on board the two boats off the coast of Beit Lahiya, northern the Gaza Strip.
 

Moreover, the union called all human rights institutions to intervene immediately to stop these attacks, which are growing worse in all new fishing season.
