Lt. Col. Sulaiman: We make great efforts to upgrade inmates

Lt. Colonel Nasser Sulaiman, Director General of Directorate General of Reform and Rehabilitation Centers at the Ministry of Interior and National Security, confirmed that they are dealing with inmates through the law, the files of inmates and their arrest and release.

Lt. Col. Suleiman said, during his participation on Tuesday in a workshop on the legal status of inmates in the Gaza Strip, said that the Directorate of Reform and Rehabilitation seeks to reduce the congestion of the inmates by building and expanding many centers to accommodate all inmates from the police stations in the Gaza Strip.

The workshop was organized by the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution in the hall of the Red Crescent in Gaza, with a number of human rights organizations and a number of personalities in Palestinian government  and police officers.

In another context, Lt. Col. Suleiman pointed out that there are several obstacles facing the Directorate in upgrading the work, such as the deficiency of the human staff, explaining that the directorate is making many great efforts to improve the inmates through educational programs.

"We are working to improve the inmates and integrate them into society, pointing out that many programs were launched to support the inmates, in coordination with the Ministry of Labour." Lt. Col. Suleiman.
