Dr. Ahmed Bahar, the first deputy speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council, denounced the continuation of political arrests and the pursuit of the resistance fighters carried out by PA in the West Bank, calling on Egypt to monitor implementation of the reconciliation agreement.
Bahar said, during a speech he delivered in the headquarters of the Legislative Council of Gaza at a protest sit-in against of political arrests on Sunday: "The political arrest which has become the policy adopted by the security apparatuses in the West Bank is unjustifiable. While there are decisions protecting the security of the Israeli entity, there are others imposing restrictions on the Palestinians in the West Bank".
Ramallah authority does not want reconciliation, as it is still seeking for negotiations with the enemy, despite all the killings, the settlement projects, the seizure of lands and the Judaization it is carrying out, Dr. Bahar added.
"This group is implementing Israeli orders", he stated, stressing that no reconciliation or national unity can be implemented in the absence of a political will to halt the security persecution in the West Bank.
Concerning the rumors about political prisoners being detained by Gaza's government, he strongly denied such claims, saying that all the prisoners in Gaza's jails have been arrested for criminal or security cases.
The first deputy speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council demanded the security services in the West Bank to end security coordination and the role exchange with the Israeli security apparatuses.
He also said: "We want a real unity between the West Bank, Gaza, Jerusalem and the territories occupied in 1948. We would like to stand together and achieve a true reconciliation based on the Palestinian constants, not based on the negotiations and the futile Oslo agreement, especially in light of the Arab spring."
Meanwhile, Dr. Bahr appealed to ??Egypt and its president, Mohamed Morsi, to monitor the files of the reconciliation agreement, which has been violated by PA.
