Electricity crisis in Gaza worsen; citizens complain on the first day of Ramadan

The electricity crisis in the Gaza Strip became worsen on the first day of the month of Ramadan, whereas, several areas in the Gaza power cut lasted for more than 12 continuous hours, that contrary to what declared the Authority of Energy and Natural Resources in Gaza for a noticeable improvement will be introduced on the agenda of electricity during the month of Ramadan and especially in the evening.

There are several complaints from citizens in various parts of the Gaza Strip, asserting that the electricity crisis worsened in the first day of the holy month.

The Gaza Strip have suffered since last February from a suffocating electricity crisis, and the energy authority in Gaza held Egypt and Israel fully responsible for the worsening situation in the Gaza Strip.

Ibrahim Al-Khalidi, 36, a resident of Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, who is married and a father for four children said: "despite the summer heat and fast in Ramadan, the electricity company in Gaza are still cutting electricity."

"I'm not able to work or even sit at home in times of the continued power outages, and I do not have the price of an electric generator, and I spend most times with my family on the roof." Al-Khalidi added.

He said: "We have heard beautiful words from the energy authority about the improvement of agenda, particularly in the evenings of Ramadan," explaining that this is not only for media and it is unfounded on the ground. "

Moreover, Haj Mohammed Ali, 55, a grocery, held the Energy Authority full responsibility for the worsening electricity situation in the Gaza Strip.

Haj Ali said: "I feel the presence of fraud in the distribution of hours of electricity to citizens."

Consequently, Ali called all officials in the Gaza Strip to take into consideration all patients and citizens, and do their best to alleviate their suffering, saying:" We know very well that the Gaza Strip is suffering from a crippling blockade and the government suffers from many crises, but what is the guilt of the citizens. " .

Meanwhile, Maryam Hassouna, 37, complained also from the bad situation of electricity in Gaza, particularly during the evening hours, whereas, she can't prepare food and drinks for her family.
