Gaza-Interior Ministry
Besieged Gaza people concerned, as a result of the Egyptian decision to open the Rafah crossing 3 days only of each week after the witnessed closure since the events of Sinai ... This decision could lead to a doubling of suffering within the Gaza strip and the worsening health status of pathological cases that are waiting to travel.
Dr. Ashraf Al-Qudra, Director of Public Relations and Information in the Ministry of Health , explained for "Interior website" that the closure of the crossing every day leads to increase waiting lists for patients scheduled to travel to Egypt 40 new patients, indicating that the registries cases reached to September 5 which requires opening the crossing urgently and all the week to enable the patients to travel to receive treatment.
He showed, it is supposed to travel 40 patients a day to their need for private health care, and lack of appropriate treatment, and the lack of diagnostic equipment necessary for their condition, and their need for surgery can not be performed in Gaza.
"Any delay of these cases exacerbating their health status directly", He added
And he hoped from the Egyptian leadership should not leave Gaza patients suffer and live in this difficult situation, and work to facilitate the exit conditions so as not to reach a humanitarian disaster, because the Rafah crossing is the only outlet for them
And called on the Egyptian leadership to work on the opening of the Rafah crossing on throughout the week and that the period of work within the crossing open and not be a specific number of hours to enable all patients from traveling, and to save their lives.
And he hoped thatthe case not back to what it was in the past as a result of the witnessed closure of the crossing in the past years, which has led to the deaths of approximately 500 patients who are waiting for the opening of the crossing.
