IOF set up checkpoints in Al-Khalil and summon an ex-prisoner

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) set up military checkpoints on Saturday evening in the north of al-Khalil in the occupied West Bank and started checking the identities of passers-by.

Eyewitnesses said that the occupation intensified its presence on the main roads in al-Khalil and that the soldiers, unexpectedly, set up two military checkpoints near Halhoul bridge, north of al-Khalil, and another near the entrance to the town of Sa'ir which lies meters away from the military observation tower .

The witnesses added that the soldiers were searching the vehicles and checking the citizens' identities.

IOF had also broken into a number of Palestinian houses in al-Khalil city at dawn on Saturday and summoned the ex-prisoner Safwat Mohammed Oweiwi who was released in Wafa Ahrar deal after serving 9 years moving in Israeli jails.

Sources from Oweiwi family said that large forces of the Israeli army raided at dawn the region of Karn Thawr in the center of al-Khalil city near the headquarters of the Authority security apparatus, stormed the house of ex-prisoner Oweiwi and searched it, then handed Safwat Oweiwi summons for interrogation in Etzion center, south of Bethlehem.

In a related context; settlers from Najhot settlement attacked a Palestinian vehicle carrying a number of citizens, west of the town of Dura south of al-Khalil, and attempted to assault its passengers who managed to escape.
