Ahrar center for prisoner studies and human rights said Palestinian lawmaker Mohamed Abu Teir is slated to be released on Wednesday following 12 months in administrative detention.

Director of the center Fouad Al-Khafsh stated that Abu Teir is one of the leading national figures in Jerusalem and was taken prisoner after he was exiled last year by the Israeli regime from the holy city to Kafr Aqab town.

Later, he was administratively detained for several months in Ofer jail in Ramallah city before the Israeli regime decided to release him in the coming days.

Khafsh added that MP Abu Teir spent 30 years of his life in Israeli jails, the first time was in 1974 when he was kidnapped and sentenced to 13 years in prison.

The human rights activist urged the different media outlets to highlight the issue of Palestinian lawmakers in Israeli jails and the repressive measures taken against them.
