Palestinian infant Tala al-Baghdadi died, on Monday afternoon, of her wounds caused when a candle lit amid a power outage burnt their house down, a week ago.

The fire which broke out on Tuesday evening in the house in Bureij refugee camp, in the central Gaza Strip, caused the child Fathi Abdel Fattah al-Baghdadi, 3 years old, to burn to death, while his sister Tala, one year and a half, was transferred to hospital suffering severe burns.

Palestinian medical sources stated that the infant Tala passed away on Monday afternoon as she was suffering from extremely serious burns.

The Gaza Strip suffers from daily power outages according to a specific schedule, due to the insufficient fuel supplies to the power station because of the siege on the coastal strip.

The power cut is causing more casualties as three children were killed earlier this year by similar fires during an outage in Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip.
