The Palestinian prisoner Ayman Sharawna, 115 days on hunger strike, stopped drinking water in protest against pressures exerted against him by Israeli prison officers.
Sharawna told a lawyer for the Palestinian prisoner’s society, who visited him on Tuesday in Ramle prison clinic, that he would not accept to be deported whatever the cost, and he will continue the hunger strike until either “martyrdom or return to his family and his house”.
He added that the Ramle prison hospital administration has deliberately transferred him daily from one isolation room to another in order to create a state of instability.
Sharawna was completely isolated from all the prisoners in jail to force him to break the strike.
Several meetings were held with the officers of the prison administration who suggested deporting him or holding him in administrative detention. “I absolutely rejected those proposals especially after the strike exceeded 100 days”, Sharawna explained.
Sharawna suffers from frequent fainting, partial memory loss, and severe pain in his head and stomach.
In this context, PPS lawyer confirmed that Sharawna is in very dangerous health condition, pointing out that his health has deteriorated significantly.
