Haniya and Bahar participate in the funeral of MP al-Tawil

Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, First Deputy head of the Legislative Council Ahmed Bahar and a number of other officials participated in the funeral of MP Hussam Kamal al-Tawil, who died after a long illness.

Haniyeh commended, during the funeral which took place at the St. Porphyrius Church in Gaza on Thursday, the virtues of MP Hussam al-Tawil who had been elected for his position in the Legislative Council by both Muslims and Christians and had collected over 54 thousand votes.

He also hailed the stands of the late MP in defending the Palestinian constants and national rights in all Palestinian, Arab and international forums pointing to his dedication in serving the Palestinian issue and rights.

The Palestinian Prime Minister stressed on the good relationship between the Christians and Muslims in Palestine, pointing out that Palestinian Christians enjoy the same rights and have the same duties as Palestinian Muslims.

For his part, the Reverend Archbishop of Tiberias, Alexios, thanked Ismail Haniya and his accompanying delegation for their gesture of sharing the grief with members of the Christian community, emphasizing on the unity of the Palestinian people regardless of faith.
