The Ministry of Agriculture in Gaza called on the media to focus on losses of the agricultural sector, which exceeded 100 million dollars, and on the cultivated lands targeted by the occupation.

The ministry said in a statement on Saturday that Palestinian fishermen’s losses had exceeded 15 million dollars, charging Israel with targeting the food security for the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

The ministry also called on Arab agriculture ministers to visit Gaza to closely get acquainted with the conditions of the agriculture sector targeted by the ongoing aggression.

It also confirmed that the agricultural sector is the most affected sector by the continuous Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

It pointed out that the occupation is targeting in this systematic aggression the agricultural lands and wells and agricultural facilities as well as ports and marinas.

The ministry stressed that the continued targeting of the agricultural sector would threaten the Palestinian food basket and would cause heavy material losses for farmers, recalling that the losses of the agricultural sector during Furquan war exceeded half a billion dollars.

The ministry warned that a big number of Israeli missiles were carrying large amounts of explosives and toxic substances that could damage the agricultural soils and aquifer.
