Maj. Islam Shahwan, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior and National Security, said: "The Minister of Interior Mr. Fathi Hammad decided to release 80 convicts, who have spent two-thirds of their sentences."
Shahwan confirmed in a statement to the Interior Ministry's website that the decision was taken by His Excellency Minister of Interior to celebrate the victory of the Palestinian people and the valiant resistance in the recent war.
Shahwan pointed out that the Ministry of Interior is always seeking to relieve the suffering of our people and exploit any great occasion to bring joy and happiness to the Palestinian families.
Also, Colonel Nasser Sulaiman, Director General of General Administration of Reform and Rehabilitation, called all released to integrate into society and perform their duty towards their people and serve them and not to return to the path of crime and lawlessness.
