The Palestinian ministry of health said the Gaza Strip is completely free of the H1N1 virus known as swine flu.

Director of the ministry's primary care department Fouad Issawi stated that Gaza hospitals and medical centers had not reported any infection with the virus.

Fouad said that the medical committee for infectious diseases convened on Sunday at the headquarters of the health ministry in Gaza to follow up the developments about the virus and its outbreak in some occupied Palestinian territories.

He added that UNRWA, the world health organization, the Red Cross, and the health ministry are represented in the committee.

The official noted that the committee would launch an awareness campaign about the disease in Gaza, especially after the death of several citizens from swine flu in the West Bank.
