Dozens of leaders participate in hunger strike to support prisoners

A number of leaders, politicians and academics, launched on Monday a hunger strike, in solidarity with the hunger strikers in the Israeli jails and in continuation of the international solidarity campaign with the captives.

Among the participants in the hunger strike are the head of the Legislative Council, Dr. Aziz Dweik, his deputy, Dr. Ahmad Bahar, and all the MPs in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, in addition to 679 citizens who have announced that they will join the strike.

The solidarity hunger strike was called for by the Association of Prisoners and Ex-prisoners, the Ahrar Center for Studies, the Electronic Campaign for the Support of Prisoners, Al-Quds Network, the Palestinian Center for the Defense of Prisoners and a number of lawyers and journalists.

The hunger strike was announced during a press statement on Sunday, to be the largest solidarity campaign in which the Palestinian leaders and icons and the political, intellectual and media elite will take part, to support the prisoners and activate their cause.
