Egyptian authorities delivered to the Palestinian authorities in Gaza Strip the body of a Gazan man who died in Egyptian custody. Security sources told the PIC reporter on Tuesday that the medical report that arrived with the body on Monday evening claimed that Yousef Abu Zayed, 51, had died in a heart attack in jail four days earlier. The sources said that the report claimed that Abu Zayed, from Zawaida in central Gaza Strip, was detained weeks ago at the pretext of staying in Egypt despite expiry of his residence. The sources pointed out that the Rafah border crossing was closed so he could not return to the besieged enclave. The sources said that medical examination was being made to determine the cause of Abu Zayed’s death after news reports said that the deceased had died under torture.
