Hamas movement stressed its rejection to the demolition of tunnels before providing the alternative to the people of the Gaza Strip . Sami Abu Zuhri, spokesman of Hamas , said the Egyptian claim about ending the issue of tunnels on the border with Gaza to ensure national security represents "an unconvincing justification" . He affirmed that his movement "rejects the demolition of the tunnels before providing an alternative", warning that such a move would lead to a major humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip. He added: "We consider that destruction of the tunnels in such a way means that Egypt, under the current authorities, has abandoned its national role towards the Palestinian cause" . Hamas's spokesman also confirmed that the statements by some Egyptian sources about the arrest of dozens of Hamas affiliates in Egyptian prisons are unfounded allegations. He said: "These parties cannot prove that any Hamas member is involved in the Egyptian arena", adding that such fabrications form continuation of the attempts to incite against the Palestinian resistance
