Recently released prisoner Naim Sharamrah was transferred to Jordan late Sunday for medical treatment after Israel authorized the move, the Palestinian Prisoners Society said.
Director of the Hebron office of the PPS, Amjad Al-Najjar, told that Israel's previous refusal to allow the transfer had nearly created a crisis within the Palestinian Authority.
After "high-level coordination" Israel finally permitted Sharamrah's transfer.
Sharamrah was originally scheduled to arrive in Jordan early on Sunday, but the Red Crescent was notified of an Israeli decision to deny him entry.
He was released early last Tuesday together with 25 other prisoners who were detained before the Oslo Accords and had spent 19 years in Israeli jails.
Shawamrah developed muscular dystrophy while in jail and during his final days in prison was unable to walk.
