The Director General of Reform and Rehabilitation Centers, Atteyya Mansour ,has revealed that the Interior Ministry will inaugurate a huge Reform and Rehabilitation Center in the Gaza Strip .
Mansour explains the new Qatari funded Center will consist of a large library, a computer laboratory and handicraft workshops, with the capacity to integrate more than 2000 inmates.
"Rehabilitation Directorate accepts remarks of any organization that supports justice and human rights concepts, we work hard to implement clear plans that target protection inmates rights," he says to Alray local Agency. He points out that the Reform Directorate preserves the dignity of inmates according to Islamic ethics He adds, "we treat inmates under concept of reforming and rehabilitating them in order to be productive and useful elements in society."
Col. Mansour affirms that no inmate is received without legal memorandum and court order, emphasizing that only the judicial authorities are authorized to make judicial rulings and the directorate cannot intervene.
Each inmate has both a judicial and health file with doctors performing medical examinations to make certain inmates are free of infectious diseases. Doctors also ensure those suffering from chronic disease are fully medicated.
He mentions that the Reform and Rehabilitation Center aids poor inmates’ families and pays salaries to others in cooperation with Social Affairs Ministry.
