Directorate General of Reform and Rehabilitation organized, on Thursday 29.05.2014, a meeting of the academic counseling for inmates who are interested in completing their university studies, at the Katiba Center.
Lt. Col. Alaa Srour, director of the Gaza Central Reform and Rehabilitation Center- the Katiba, "we, at the Directorate, aim to enable the inmates to continue and enroll at the university educational programs and to support them.
He added: "This step contributes to elevating cultural and educational level of the inmates, which contributes to reducing recidivism."
Adham Sharfa, PR Manager in "Palestine Polytechnic," said during the meeting: "We help students of inmates to understand their selves and their potential, direct them towards the academic study in their faculties and their departments, explain the mechanism of registration of courses at the university, and graduation in the specified period of time, and after that help them to acquire scientific expertise and practical skills to provide them with a successful opportunity to work after leaving the reform and rehabilitation centers and meet the requirements of life better. "
It is noteworthy that Directorate of Reform and Rehabilitation, this month, signed a cooperation agreement with the Palestine Polytechnic University which seeks to enable the inmates of their right to complete their university education at all stages: diploma and undergraduate and master's degrees."
