The Gaza Strip Rehabilitation and Reform Centers witness great commitment to inmates rights according to the international concepts and standards.
The Ministry of Interior(MOI implements all the laws ,which guarantee a decent life for the inmates in the Rehabilitation and Reform Centers over the Gaza Strip,
Since the decision of separating the Rehabilitation centers from the police according to article No. (71) in the Revised.
Palestinian Law in 1998, international Human Rights Organizations say there is an apparent improvement in dealing with inmates inside the centers. The custodies become very suitable so that the inmates will be good citizens in society.
Col.Atteyyah Mansour affirmed that the centers witness a tangible development in various levels in accordance with concerning parties and Human Rights Organizations. He said there is currently a good psychological atmosphere for inmates so that they can be re-integrated in society as good citizens.
The General Directorate of Rehabilitation and Reform Centers continues its practical programs to qualify and re-incorporate the inmates into society.
The activities and programs concentrate on religious, cultural, and professional aspects.
Mansoor told the MOI's correspondent about projects of literacy, memorization of the Koran, as well as human development courses and entertainment evenings.
The Directorate of Rehabilitation and Reform Centers distributes food parcels for the poor families of inmates in addition to provide work opportunities for some poor inmates inside prisons.
The inmates are permitted to have their weekend at their homes with their families in order to strengthen the familial bonds and draw happiness in the faces of their sons and daughters, Col.Mansoor said.
The plans of Rehabilitation centers at the MOI is not only to punish the prisoners but also to give them benefit during their stay inside the center.
