Rafah Crossing Gets a New Look

Palestinians in the Gaza Strip ,unfortunately, do not enjoy the paradigm shift occurs in the Rafah Border Crossing after being constructed and prepared according to modern style11s.

However, frequent closures of the Crossing create sufferings for travelers instead of benefitting them from the facilitations in procedures. Rafah Crossing is the only outlet for 1.8 million Palestinians who live in the besieged Palestinian enclave for eight years.  

The tenth government which was formed in 2006, has been engaged in developing the conditions of  Rafah Crossing  with financial contribution of Bank of Islamic Development in Jeddah and the implementation of Islamic Relief Association.

The project included in the first stage, the restoration of the Exits and Arrivals halls, the, customs, the main gate and the area around the mosque.

The construction process costs 1.4 million dollars.

The second stage includes the construction of a cafeteria for travelers and employees, also, the installation of lighting network depends on solar energy in the courtyard of the crossing.

 Besides, the external hall which  will be prepared with the latest systems and technologies, can accommodate seven buses at one time with checking luggage device.   

A new hall for figures and  press conferences will be constructed with internal decoration and a platform for that purpose. 

The Palestinian travelers feel that Rafah Crossing moved a quantum leap in performance and services provided to them in particular the inner halls prepared by the latest equipment of inspection devices and air-conditioned waiting seats ,which imparts a sense of comfort and reassurance.

Since January 20014,Egyptian Authorities close Rafah Border Crossing for 137days.
