Gaza--(MOI)
Egyptian Authorities closed the Rafah Border Crossing following the death of over 30 Egyptian soldiers in the Sinai last Friday.
Ministry of Interior (MOI) spokesperson, Iyad Albosom, affirmed "Gaza has no relation to what is happening in Egypt". In a press release published on the MOI website he stated that the borders with Egypt are well controlled and monitored by the Palestinian security agencies.
"Tunnels between Gaza and Egypt do not exist anymore as the Egyptian military totally destroyed them two years ago".
The spokesperson affirmed that Egyptian national security remains a Palestinian priority. He offered his condolences for the Egyptian leadership and people and appealed to the Egyptian authorities to reopen the Rafah Border to help lessen suffering in the besieged Gaza Strip.
He requested the Egyptian authorities avoid any measures that would intensify the suffering created by last summer’s Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip that killed over two thousand men, women and children and left thousands homeless
