Energy Authority in the Gaza Strip submitted a proposal to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA ) to function as a broker in order for buying fuel, needed to run the sole power plant in Gaza, from the Israeli side. Fathi Al-Sheikh Khalil, Vice President of the Energy Authority, said that the "UNRWA will buy fuel from Israel, while Qatar will pledge to pay for the differences in the price of diesel." He pointed out that the UNRWA offered the proposal to the Israeli side on Wednesday, but "has not received any response until this moment." Al-Sheikh Khalil on Sunday stated that if the UNRWA has succeeded in buying the required quantity of fuel needed to run the power plant, then electricity will be off for 8 hours only, as it was previously. He stressed that the authority is in constant communication with the international organizations in the Gaza Strip to reach a solution that would end to the suffering of the Gazans. He indicated that the Palestinian government is contacting foreign countries in order to reduce the crisis.
